Some movements or pressures that are not a problem in normal situations, such as falling down slowly, bending or even coughing, can cause fractures in these situations.

 

Areas such as hips, ribs, wrists and spine are more prone to fractures than other body joints. These fractures usually occur in the form of cracking or complete collapse of the bone.

 

It is good to know that osteoporosis or osteoporosis does not have any specific symptoms in the early stages. In fact, people may have this disease for years but do not realize it until it is fully advanced (breaking bones for very minor reasons such as coughing).

 

How does osteoporosis happen?
Bone is a living tissue that is constantly broken down and replaced. In this way, the body maintains the bone density and the integrity of the crystals and their structure.

 

Osteoporosis occurs when the balance between the formation of new bone and the breakdown of old bone is disrupted and the bone becomes hollow and hollow like a sponge.

 

Bone density reaches its maximum value at the age of 25 and remains at its peak until about 35 years of age, and after that, with age, bone loses 0.3 to 0.5% of its density annually.

 

The rate of loss of bone density in women increases after menopause.

What are the causes of osteoporosis?
This disease is very common during menopause because estrogen in women’s body decreases a lot. Also, the lack of minerals such as calcium, protein and vitamin D and the use of tobacco such as cigarettes cause osteoporosis.

 

In the conditions of lack of minerals in the diet, the body takes this deficiency from the bone tissues and this work over time causes the bones to be poor in terms of minerals and as a result osteoporosis.

 

Also, as the age increases, the destruction of bone tissue exceeds its production, and this complication appears with the passage of time and in old age.

 

Some diseases such as hyperthyroidism, hypogonadism, rheumatoid arthritis, Cushing’s disease and diabetes and the use of certain drugs such as corten and levothyroxine, furosemide, heparin, and phenytoin also cause osteoporosis over time.

 

Other factors, such as inactivity or lack of weight more than 10% compared to the weight of youth or BMI less than 19, hereditary factors and alcoholism cause osteoporosis.

 

It was believed that excessive consumption of caffeine is one of the risk factors, but new research shows that there is no significant relationship between osteoporosis and caffeine consumption.
